The First 3D Printer in Indonesia for Education Launched by a Local Company

In recent years, 3D printer in Indonesia and 3D printing has gained popularity in the fields of industry and education. In contrast to traditional printing, 3D printing is different. Actually, three-dimensional items are produced with 3D printing by combining various materials with the aid of a computer. The material used is mostly plastic, however because of technological advancements, metal, ceramic, and even biomaterials have been utilized.

The only local 3D printer factory in Indonesia was created by PT Inspira Kreatif, a local business that not only assembled 3D printer in Indonesia but also designed them and the parts that go into them.

As the first 3D educational printer in Indonesia with a tiered and integrated STEAM-based curriculum, 3D Pintar was created by Inspira Academy in 2021. It may be utilized in Indonesian schools from kindergarten through high school. Furthermore, with a system that can be accessed from anywhere in the world, Inspira Academy produces 3D printers as well as training materials for freelancers in the industry.

Collaboration with The National Government about 3D Printer in Indonesia

According to Presidential Regulation No. 18 of 2020, which focuses on leveraging industry 4.0, one of President Jokowi’s top priorities is to increase the domestic sector’s competitiveness, added value contribution, productivity, and sustainability. The ecosystem of 3D printing technology is one of industry 4.0’s critical moments.

Minister for Economic Affairs Mr. Airlangga Hartanto said recently that the government is committed to building qualified HR competencies in the industrial era 4.0 through a strategy for developing vocational education and training by focusing on 3 vocational institutions, namely Vocational High Schools, Job Training Centers, and Polytechnic.

However, to support Making Indonesia 4.0 it is not enough just to make a manufacturer but how to process Human Resources. Through Inspira Academy as one of the leading educational institutions and the first in Indonesia that has a concentration on 3D design and printing (3D creation), robotics and IoT, the company is building a learning ecosystem.

Ciamis is the First City to Collaborate with Inspira Academy.

Ciamis Regency is one of the first districts in Indonesia to implement 3D printing in human resource development with the “STEAM-based Educator Competency Improvement” program initiated by the Regent of Ciamis Dr.H. Herdiat Sunarya.

In collaboration with Inspira Academy through the competency improvement program in 2021, it has implemented 3D printed knowledge in STEAM Education for 1000 teachers which will be carried out in stages over 3 years.

According to the founder of PT Inspira Kreatif Infinia, Mr. Sugianto Kolim, one of the advantages of a 3D printer is that it can produce a design in 3 dimensions. Mr. Sugianto even said that one of the keys to why PT Inspira was able to design a local 3D printer, is because almost all plastic components of the 3D printer are made with high-precision industrial 3D printer machines. So no longer going through the injection process, which initially costs more.

Inspira Academy is Seriously Growing and Expanding this Industry.

“We are really building this industry seriously, because we believe the trend going forward has very good prospects and is needed by the industry, both on a home scale and on a large scale. Therefore, we build this 3D printing ecosystem from education, certification, and a national 3D printer product for Education and Industry,” said Sugianto, in a media broadcast, Tuesday (12/28/2021).

“We transfer knowledge to the teaching staff and it is hoped that the teaching staff can educate their students. The collaboration between PT Inspira and the Ciamis Regency Government lasted for several years. 2021 will be the first batch and the second batch will be held in 2022. We also handed over 300 units of the Galuh edition of 3D Pintar, a local production printer specially designed for Kindergarten, Elementary and Junior High Schools in Ciamis Regency,” said Sugianto.

PT Inspira kreatif Infinia will develop another 3D printing-based education package, with the aim that more students and industry players in Indonesia will use 3D printing and local products to support Industry 4.0, which is targeted by the President. In addition, Inspira will also expand the production of local printers and add models so that there are more choices according to the needs of consumers in Indonesia.
