Their goal is to create controllers that are tailored specifically to the needs of each individual gamer. This can include creating controllers that are easier to use, adding buttons or switches that make certain actions easier, or even creating controllers in different shapes and sizes to accommodate different disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why 3D print your own controller? People with disabilities often have difficulty in controlling their gaming console. While there are many different ways to control the console, it&#8217;s often difficult for those with physical disabilities to use the standard controls. For example, if they are trying to play a game using a joystick when they only able to use their left hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mods for Games with Disabilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Controller Project has already created <a href=\"https:\/\/thecontrollerproject.com\/mods\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">several custom controllers<\/a>, and they are constantly working on new projects. They have created controllers for people with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and multiple sclerosis, among other conditions. The website also provides a variety of different mods, including designs for larger buttons, custom grips, and adapted triggers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">History of The Controller Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cIt all started with Thomas.<\/p><p>I had been tinkering a bit with custom controllers as a hobby for a little while. When I saw an opportunity to make a custom controller for Thomas, who has muscular dystrophy, I thought it would make a great video! However, in working with Thomas, and seeing the results of what I built, I was given insight into the life of a gamer with disabilities.<\/p><p>Ultimately, Thomas\u2019 controller was pretty useless. I haven\u2019t talked to him about it but I suspect he never used it. It looked cool but really wasn\u2019t great. In that way, I call his project the successful failure that launched this project.<\/p><p>Since then I\u2019ve developed, built, and donated controllers to people as a hobby for about 10 years. Some periods I would do very few, and other periods I would do a lot. There were times where I tried to be a middle-man, connecting gamers with makers who could modify things. There were other times I had a forum. At some point, I narrowed down my focus to 3D printed accessories for console controllers and really began to pick up momentum.<\/p><p>Now, I have volunteers all over the world, and try to help as many people as possible.\u201d<\/p><cite>&#8211; Caleb Kraft from <a href=\"https:\/\/thecontrollerproject.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">About &#8211; The Controller Project<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In conclusion, the Controller Project is an excellent way for gamers with disabilities to play video games. The 3D printed controller mods are very well-made and fit comfortably in the hands of the player. The project is still in development, so there are bound to be more improvements in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several ways to <a href=\"https:\/\/thecontrollerproject.com\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">support<\/a> this project. You can donate money, help with the design process, or become a design collaborator.&nbsp;The Controller Project is looking for people to contribute their ideas and expertise in order to create controllers that are specifically tailored for gamers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can make innovative things with 3D printers at Inspira Academy and learn about 3D printing.
